The Danny McBride Trifecta

For those of you living under a rock, let me introduce you to the comedy Genius of Danny McBride.

He has appeared in countless films such as Pineapple Express, Land of the Lost, and Tropic Thunder. Voiced characters in Despicable Me, Sausage Party, and Grand Theft Auto, written and directed. But when Danny Mcbride began creating, writing, and starring in his own series on HBO it was impossible not to notice his unique voice.

Eastbound and Down - 4 seasons streaming on HBO Max

Eastbound and Down was the first series he created for HBO. It follows Kenny Powers, a washed-up baseball player with a big mouth, a big ego, a very curly mullet, and an intense love of his wave runner. After getting tossed from the major leagues he finds himself teaching gym at his hometown middle school, living in his brother's guest room, chasing after his high school sweetheart, and trying to recapture his spot on the field. He is not a very good person but there is a certain charisma that draws people in.

Vice Principals- 2 seasons streaming on HBO Max

Vice Principals pairs McBride with Walton Goggins as two Vice Principals fighting to become the Principal in a southern High school. Polar opposites in appearance and personality but they share a ruthlessness and must join forces to work against their common enemies. This show goes places you will not expect and will introduce you to Edi Patterson. You will want to remember that name.

The only bad thing about Vice Principals…there were only two seasons made but that was the plan all along according to McBride.

The Righteous Gemstones - 2 seasons with a 3rd on the way streaming on HBO Max

With The Righteous Gemstones, Danny McBride has created pure magic. The story follows a family of Televangelists in North Carolina. John Goodman plays the father to siblings McBride, Edi Patterson, and Adam Devine.

Walton Goggins is back as their country-clogging tent preaching uncle. When Danny McBride works well with people they tend to keep popping up in his projects and we are grateful for that! For a family of deep faith, they get into an awful lot of trouble and it is amazing. We can only hope that as the world he continues to build expands, we will have many more seasons to look forward to.
